I saw this in my Cast Iron Cooking Facebook group and thought I would share! I use lard in my biscuits and baking. There are so many other uses such a balm, lamp oil, and medicinal purposes. The real surprise is homemade soap. Huh…who woulda thunk? Lol

Lard is one of the very few oils that has a super high smoke point. It also contains a large amount of  high saturated fatty acids. I’ve heard it has a very distinct flavor which is why it’s great in starches. This is most definately on my “please don’t forget ” list 😆
